20 Best Photo Spots in Colorado
Throughout the past two years, I have placed a lot of time into finding the best photo spots in Colorado. I am a lifestyle content creator and travel blogger, so I spend most of my weekends finding new adventures and locations to photograph. Whether you are a photographer looking for a new spot for your sessions, a tourist visiting Colorado, or a local wanting a new, scenic adventure, these photo spots are perfect. No matter who you are and why you want to take photos, these locations are for everyone. Here are my top 20 favorite photo spots around Colorado for your next photography sessions.
Union Station
Right in the heart of downtown Denver is the infamous Union Station. I love taking photos across the street from the train station so the entire building is featured in the background. This spot screams Denver and is the perfect place to take photos if you're visiting.
Rocky Mountain National Park
1000 US Hwy 36, Estes Park, CO 80517
If you are wanting a wide variety of mountain views for your photos, Rocky Mountain National Park is your place. Our favorite area to take photos at is Bear Lake and the hiking trail that ends up at Dream Lake. Such a variety of gorgeous locations here. Make sure to bring your national park pass, or you can buy a day ticket for around $30.
Chautauqua Park
9th St & Baseline Rd, Boulder, CO 80302
Boulder, Colorado is also a great area to take photos. This city sits alongside the foothills, so there are plenty of mountain views. We love hiking and taking pictures at Chautauqua, it's a must while you're in Boulder. This spot is perfect for family portraits or engagement sessions.
Lost Gulch Lookout
3998 Flagstaff Rd, Boulder, CO 80302
This beautiful lookout is located in Boulder, Colorado. The drive up is my favorite part, but the views at Lost Gulch are amazing and very popular. I suggest going at sunrise or on a weekday to avoid crowds. This spot is perfect for any photography session.
Rotary Snowplow Park
189 Boreas Pass Rd, Breckenridge, CO 80424
Right outside of the main town of Breckenridge is the old train station. This is a great place to take photos as it's tucked away from the crowds and if you have children, they would love to explore this area anyway.
Sapphire Point Overlook
This is one of my favorite spots for photos in Colorado. It's located in Frisco, right off of I-70. The views are incredible here on sunny or snowy days.
Lake Dillon
Also in Frisco is Lake Dillon, only a few miles away from Sapphire Point. This spot is beautiful all year round, but I love taking snowy photos here especially. This is also a great spot for couples sessions.
Georgetown Lake
We take a lot of photos here in Georgetown, especially if we don't want to make the drive all the way past the Eisenhower Tunnel. Georgetown Lake is a gorgeous spot for photos. We love to drive all the way down to the small pier as you can see in the last two photos or even take photos on the ice like in the first two.
Piney River Ranch
Located in Vail, Piney River Ranch is one of my all-time favorite spots in Colorado. This ranch is tucked away in the middle of nowhere with no cell service. My suggestion is to make a weekend out of your drive up here. It takes about three hours from Denver and is only open during the summer.
Paint Mines
29950 Paint Mine Rd, Calhan, CO 80808
Paint Mines interpretive park is located near Colorado Springs. This is a hot spot for tourists, so I recommend going during the week if you can. The beautiful clay formations make for amazing photos.
Maroon Bells
My favorite place to go in the fall is Aspen, Colorado. It's a bit of a drive but so worth it. Aspen and Snowmass Village have epic fall views with all of the aspen trees. Maroon Bells is gorgeous this time of year, and highly recommend visiting this fall.
Lookout Mountain
Lookout Mountain in Golden, Colorado is absolutely stunning. We love pulling off by the hiking trails to explore around and take photos. This location isn't marked but is near the bottom of the mountain going towards the town of Golden.
Squaw Pass
This drive is absolutely beautiful and is an alternate route to get to Idaho Springs. It's a __ mile road from Evergreen that ends up in the town of Idaho Springs. We drive this route in the summers, and there's plenty of places to pull off and capture those mountain views.
Shrine Ridge Trail
Shrine Pass Rd, Basalt, CO 81621
Shrine Pass is located in Vail Valley and leads to one of our favorite hikes in Colorado. The drive up to the trail is open only during the summer. The wildflowers and views and absolutely incredible. This is a must in the summer for hiking and photo-taking!
Downtown Parking Garage
This parking garage is right across the street from Denver Milk Market and is perfect for some city shots. Just drive up to the top level of the parking garage and there are some amazing views, perfect for a blogger or couples photoshoot.
Sage Creations Organic Farm
3555 E Rd, Palisade, CO 81526
Located in Palisade, Colorado is the beautiful Sage Creations lavender fields. Palisade is such a charming town to visit in the summer to experience wine, fruit, and flowers. The lavender fields are perfect for any kind of summer photoshoot.
St Marys Glacier
271 Silver Creek Rd, Idaho Springs, CO 80452
Not only is this hike one of our favorites in Colorado, but it's also a perfect area for photos. You can definitely fit several outfits in at this location. Don't worry the hike up to St Marys Glacier is doable for photo sessions. It's about a 20-minute hike up and is very rocky so make sure to bring appropriate shoes. The views are incredible for photos.
Bonnie Brae Ice Cream
799 S University Blvd, Denver, CO 80209
This retro ice cream shop is so adorable and perfect for some vintage-inspired photos. It is near downtown Denver. The workers are so nice and don't mind you taking photos at all.
Downtown Courthouse
1823 Stout St, Denver, CO 80257
Byron White Courthouse is located in downtown Denver. I've taken quite a few photos here as I love the shaded, marbled building. Great photoshoot spot for fashion photographers and bloggers.
Roxborough State Park
4751 E Roxborough Dr, Littleton, CO 80125
We have taken photos here in the summer and winter, and both seasons are stunning here. This is a great spot for engagement sessions. Make sure to look up the permit qualifications before you plan a shoot here.

LOVE THIS! Such a diverse range of locations and spots. Love that you included some denver stuff too. I often go out to boulder and st. mary's glacier for colorado elopement photography. These pictures are super awesome too. Need to make it out to Roxburough state park! Such a cool looking area :)
